Many naturally occurring things can create acid rain from lightning to volcanoes and even pine needles dropped from coniferous trees but the majority of pollutants that cause acid rain originate from factories. Man made acid rain is a major problem in Russia and China where factories burn coal that contains large amounts of sulfur.

Acid rain can cause plant life to die and it causes many health problems for people and animals. Herbivores wont have anything to eat if the plants die so they will have to go somewhere else to find food and if the herbivores leave then the carnivorous animals will have to follow, but typically acid rain wont completely destroy ecosystems, it will usually just make it difficult for them to contain larger varieties of plant life since there are fewer species of plants that can withstand more acidic soil. Acid rain can even damage buildings, bridges and statues especially if they’re made of bronze or marble. Acid rain doesn’t have to much of an effect on people but it can still cause respiratory problems and eye irritation but humans aren’t the only thing living on this planet and we need to take that into consideration and be more aware of the massive amounts of pollutants we are releasing into the environment.
